Connector: Kids + Dinosaurs = Awe.

There was one question we asked ourselves as we started working with the Minnesota Zoo to promote DINOSAURS!, a new exhibit featuring actual size, moving, roaring dinosaurs.

What emotion is at the core of the exhibit?

While the zoo’s dinosaurs exhibit would certainly create excitement, it became clear to us that there was more to it for kids and parents. This would be a different kind of excitement—different than the feeling you get from an action movie, video game or roller coaster. This exhibit would be an opportunity to discover something a bit more rare for kids and parents: a pure sense of awe. Seeing awe on your child’s face is amazing. We wanted to remind parents that when their child is standing in front of a life size, moving, roaring dinosaur, a sense of awe is pretty much guaranteed.The campaign includes online, television, radio and outdoor.

Quitcash Challenge

Quitting smoking is usually a serious, somber, solo activity. The QuitCash Challenge from QUITPLAN Services seeks to change this by fusing sweepstakes marketing with social marketing. The result is turning the act of quitting smoking into a social activity—complete with prizes, Facebook community-building and supportive daily text messages. Simply said, there’s strength in numbers..

Connector: You’re stronger than you think.

Every year, The QuitCash Challenge (sponsored by QUITPLAN Services) offers smokers the opportunity to quit smoking for a chance to win $5,000. Part of the allure of the contest is that participants experience a more relaxed, positive and light-hearted approach to quitting. To support this year’s contest, these series of “talking motivational posters” were created for The QuitCash Challenge facebook page.

Altru

Connector: Peace of mind.

Altru Health System recently became the first hospital in the country to start working with the Mayo Clinic’s new healthcare provider model—the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

This new relationship is very significant because with Altru and the Mayo Clinic working together, people who live in Altru’s service area don’t have to leave home to get the best medical care on the planet. To tell the story, we started with teaser ads in outdoor, newspaper and online that featured the word “we” in a sea of white space. When the campaign launched, there was a full-page manifesto ad that explained the benefits of the new relationship along with three 30-sec mini-dramas that demonstrated why things get better when Altru and the Mayo Clinic are working together. There is no music or voiceover in the spots, which gives them a very voyeuristic quality.

Inner Conflict

Connector: A plan for all of you.

Quitting smoking feels a little like having a temporary case of split personalities. Part of you wants to quit, another part of you wants to smoke. And another part of you occasionally wants to scream or curl up in and a ball and cry. The new ads for our client, QUITPLAN Services, demonstrate the conflicting logical, physical and emotional needs of a smoker. QUITPLAN Services comes to the rescue, allowing all of the parts of their personality to work together through the quit process.

Most everyone loves the rich flavor of fresh-off-the-vine tomatoes. Since Red Gold tomatoes are picked and canned at the peak of summertime flavor, we created a pop-like song for radio that celebrates the taste of summer.

Park Nicollet

Connector: You can do this.

It’s easy to make New Year’s resolutions but much harder to keep them. Park Nicollet wanted to create a series of web videos to encourage people to stick to their resolutions. We used social media to spread the message so it didn’t feel “too corporate.”

Connector: Addiction is a trap.

Even though nicotine can sentence smokers to a lifetime addiction, there is help to break free as this two-part outdoor campaign shows. The first board was up for six weeks before it was changed to reveal that the young man had broken free of his addition.

Altru Health System

Connector: A warm holiday greeting.

The people who work at Altru Health System not only live in the Grand Forks area, they are friends and neighbors of many of the people they help care for. As such, they wanted to reach out with a holiday greeting that didn’t feature anything but the spirit of the holidays.
